 Project

The Melissa High School Arena project involved comprehensive engineering support for the steel erection of a new 62,000-square-foot athletic facility. Stubbs Engineering delivered detailed truss lifting, sequencing, and temporary bracing plans that enabled safe, efficient assembly of the arena’s complex roof system. The project demanded precise coordination, innovative planning, and structural expertise to meet the district’s ambitious schedule and quality expectations.

Engineering Precision Meets Community Growth

At Stubbs Engineering, we take pride in applying our expertise to projects that strengthen communities. An example of this is our recent collaboration with Tippen Steel Services on the new Melissa High School Arena in Melissa, TX. This impressive facility showcases the power of engineering excellence with teamwork.

The Engineering Behind the Arena

Assembling and installing a large-scale venue like the Melissa High School Arena requires careful planning and execution. Our team played an important role in the steel erection process, ensuring every phase was executed with accuracy and safety.

Some of our contributions included:
  • Truss Rigging/Lifting Plan: We developed lifting plans to safely lift and position the massive steel roof trusses, a critical step in the construction process.
  • Sequence Plan: Our team created a designated sequence plan, ensuring each structural component was installed in the correct order to maximize stability during construction.
  • Bracing Plan: We engineered temporary bracing systems for both the low and high roof sections, securing the structure during construction until all final connections were completed.

The result undergoing is a state-of-the-art, 62,000-square-foot facility designed to meet the needs of the district’s rapidly growing student population. The arena’s multi-story design features a ground level for students and a second-floor concourse for spectators, with seating for approximately 2,000 people.
