We provided structural design services for a new community center along with the renovation of an existing apartment building. The project consisted of the design of a 1,600 sq. ft. community center and a new dumpster enclosure. For the owner to better serve the community by providing low-income housing, the two-story, 20-unit apartment building needed to be converted into a 40-unit apartment building, with each unit containing a balcony. To accomplish this Stubbs designed a retrofit, which split one apartment into two, doubling the capacity of the complex.
