Chaves County Public Health Building

Roswell, NM

Foundations and Roof Framing

Our foundation design included reinforced concrete continuous and isolated footings supporting a slab-on-grade building. The roof structure incorporated structural steel beams and columns, open-web steel joists, hollow structural sections (HSS), and metal roof deck.

Mechanical Support and Architectural Features

The scope also included light-gage framing and masonry components and framing to support rooftop mechanical equipment. A separate canopy used structural steel and HSS members. We coordinated these elements with the building’s other structural systems and its functional and architectural requirements.

A New Home for Public Health Services

Developed by Chaves County in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Health, the facility replaced the county’s former public health office, which had served the community since 1977. The completed building provides approximately 31 employees with space to deliver family planning, WIC, harm reduction, Children’s Medical Services, vaccinations, vital records, and other public health services under one roof.
