What You'll Do
- Lead structural engineering projects from concept through construction administration
- Design steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements
- Coordinate directly with architects, owners, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction-phase support
- Perform occasional site visits and structural observations
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Mentor junior engineers and support the development of engineering and drafting staff
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Support business development efforts and contribute to the continued growth of the firm
- Collaborate with a team that values practical problem-solving and high-quality engineering
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Minimum 4 years of structural engineering experience
- Experience designing commercial, institutional, industrial, or similar building structures
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, building codes, and construction practices
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of the NCEES 8-Hour Civil Structural Examination
- Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior engineers
- Experience with construction administration and field observations
- Experience working directly with clients, architects, and contractors
- Interest in leadership and long-term career growth
Preferred Software Experience
Experience with one or more of the following:
- RISA
- ENERCALC
- Autodesk Revit
- Bluebeam
Equivalent structural analysis and design software experience will also be considered.
