LEAD STEEL DETAILER

Stubbs Engineering is currently looking to hire a full time Steel Detailer for our Las Cruces, NM office. We are a premier Structural Engineering Firm specializing in the design of building structures.  We are looking to expand our connection and stair design services to include the detailing of structural steel and miscellaneous steel along with integrating Steel Detailing into our Design-Build projects. 

About the Job:

Develop a team of steel detailers to perform routine to moderately complex drawings, detailing and other related duties to produce accurate erection plans and shop drawings necessary for the fabrication and placement structural and miscellaneous steel and related accessories in accordance with customer contract documents, industry standards and/or established practices and procedures. The Lead Detailer will also coordinate activities with our in-house structural engineers for connection design and stair design along with our Design-Build projects

Job Responsibilities:

Will need to be a team leader capable of managing multiple employees and projects.
Responsible for the drafting, designing, and detailing of various projects, coordinating with the clients,  steel erectors, miscellaneous and ornamental metal fabricators, and occasionally travel to construction site to assist project managers with design specifications.
Responsible for the generation and tracking of RFI's, issuing drawings for approval and fabrication as well as answering customer questions on assigned projects.
Produces clear, concise and complete drawings for shop fabrication with all information needed.

Occasionally perform field measurements to incorporate in to retrofit or custom work.
Ability to check and redline work from other Steel Detailers
Prepare accurate CNC files for client to use.
Work closely with fabricators to interpret and resolve detailing issues.

Requirements Include:

NISD certification is preferred.
Must have good working knowledge of AISC Detailing/Fabrication/ Erection Standards as well as applicable OSHA Standards
Strong experience in reading and interpreting architectural and structural design drawings.
Understands engineering of simple steel connections.
Knowledge of steel erection techniques and procedures
Minimum five years experience
Proficient in AutoCAD,  and Advanced Steel are preferred.  Experience in other software packages will be considered
Self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills.
Must be detail oriented and capable of muli-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Technical training or college degree in related field is preferable.

Structural Engineer/Intern
 
We are seeking highly motivated Engineering Interns or Licensed Structural Engineers.  Candidates shall have strong structural engineering technical skills, project management experience and leadership abilities.  We are looking for engineers with either a B.S. or M.S. in Engineering with an emphasis in Structural design. 
​They should have a minimum of two years experience and either be licensed as a Professional Engineer or able to obtain a PE license in the next two years.

Drafting Technician
 

We currently have an opening for a full-time Drafting Technician who must be able to draft marked up drawings to company standards. This position requires strict attention to detail and an ability to self-check drawings for accuracy and coordination with architects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil drawings.
Experienced with both Revit (with an Architectural backing) and AutoCAD; 
An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a minimum of 30 hours of college &1-year experience drafting; 
A solid understanding of basic building components and construction practices; 
Personable; able to interact effectively with coworkers & clients; 
Willing & able to listen, learn & problem solve using critical thinking techniques; 
Strong reading comprehension ability with good written and verbal communication skills.
